Stronger Together Men's Retreat

  • Warner's Ranch Kepler Road Van Alstyne, TX, 75495 United States (map)

OVERVIEW:

Are you looking for fellowship with other men? What does it mean to be a strong man, a good friend, a leader, a loving father or son, to be more present in a relationship?  Oftentimes we (men) think being strong means carrying the load alone. Yet, we gather strength through community, vulnerability, and sharing experiences with other men.

Are you energized by nature and the outdoors? Do you wish you could have one weekend away from the pressures of life? Imagine the peace and quiet next to a campfire under the stars. Now, add axe throwing, run and gun competitions, corn hole, horseshoes, and more!

Join us for a weekend of camping, fellowship, great food, and a little fun competition.  The STRONGER TOGETHER Camping Retreat is a weekend opportunity for self-reflection, and a life long opportunity to develop new friendships and create a better support system.

The weekend takes place approximately an hour’s drive from Flower Mound, on 400 acres of privately owned forest pasture with a 15 acre lake voted best fishing and duck hunting pond 2 years running and abundant with a wide variety of wildlife.

THE TEAM:

Chris Guzniczak, LPC, Flower Mound Counseling

Chris is a Level 3 certified TEAM CBT therapist. He begins with developing a deep understanding of the change a client wants to have. He then works to address resistance and change. Chris takes a whole person philosophy, considering mental, emotional, social, spiritual, and physical health.

Prior to therapy, Chris had a 20+ year career in technology. His passion has always been in helping those around him grow. He has experience running sales training workshops, facilitating group activities, running small groups at a hospital, and leading in faith based men’s weekend retreats. He currently runs small men’s groups through his practice. Chris gives talks for local organizations around mental health. He also writes a monthly blog.

Chris lives with his wife in Coppell Texas, and has two adult children. He is active in multiple ministries at St. Ann Catholic Church. He enjoys running, reading, and being outdoors…

Eddy Koch

Raised in the heart of Dallas as a city boy, his true desire was always to be in the woods. Any chance he had was spent hiking away from home and collecting reptilian critters and fishing, fishing and more fishing as he grew older. Eddy graduated from ATM in "85 with a degree in Biomedical Science.  He joined the athletic arena at the age of 31 as a rock climber and transitioned to competitive cycling two years later until 2005.

During the period 2004-2015 he was blessed to help with and lead spiritual retreats at his church. Additionally, in 2013 Eddy, a local theologian, and a group of 30 men decided to start a faith based father and son scouting organization called Troops of St. George (TSG) which grew like wildfire. TSG's mission is fathers to help each other and our sons grow in holiness and authentic manhood.

After witnessing 23,000+ sunrises and sunsets he has been very fortunate and privileged to have an amazing wife, 6 kids, 11 grandkids and to have worked in the wonderful industry of veterinary medicine for 37 years. Since 2015 he’s enjoyed two survival camp courses and suffered through the hardest yet most amazing experience of an 8 day backpack trip up in the Wind River Mountain Range in Wyoming. Suffice it to say, aside from his faith and family, Eddy’s heart lies deep in the woods!
